Another estate find this is a beautiful, signed, art glass vase dating back to the 1980’s era. Striking abstract design, main color blue, with panels of coppery gold metallic accents plus white, yellow, and red flecks are all over. Made by Scandinavian artist Bertil Vallien for Kosta Boda. Also signed artist coll. Please take note of all of the photos as they are my main description here.
Bertil Vallien allien is the son of the painter and preacher Nils Wallin (1911–1987) and Astrid, born Andersson (1908–1992). He grew up in the residential suburb of Sollentuna buying north of Stockholm and was one of seven children. The family was deeply religious. Bertil left the parents’ home already at the age of 15. He was married to artist Ulrica Hydman Vallien from 1963 until her death in 2018.
Vallien is represented at the National Museum [ 2 ] in Stockholm and Kalmar Art Museum [ 3 ] , Linköping’s laser and Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, New York. Vallien, like his late wife Ulrika, has extensive and worthwhile permanent exhibitions at the Vida museum and gallery in Öland. |
